Frequently Asked Questions About Ajrakh Suits

Q. What is Ajrakh and why is it so special?
Ajrakh is a traditional hand block printing technique from Kutch, Gujarat and Sindh. The word means “keep it today” in Arabic. It’s special because each fabric goes through 16 labor-intensive stages including resist printing, dyeing, and washing. The process takes 14-21 days per piece and uses only natural dyes.

Q. Will the color of my Ajrakh suit bleed or fade?
Natural indigo may bleed slightly in the first 1-2 washes. This is normal and proves authenticity. To fix the color: soak in cold water with 2 tbsp salt for 30 minutes before first wash. After that, colors stay rich for years and actually deepen with age.

Q. Are HolyThread Ajrakh suits genuine hand block prints?
Yes. Every suit carries a Craftmark tag certifying authenticity. Check for these signs: slight imperfections in block alignment, print visible on both sides of fabric, and an earthy smell from natural dyes. Digital prints look too perfect and smell of chemicals.

Q. How do I wash and care for Ajrakh suits?

  1. First wash: Dry clean preferred, or hand wash separately in cold water
  2. Use mild detergent. Never use bleach
  3. Dry in shade to prevent indigo from oxidizing
  4. Iron on medium heat on the reverse side
  5. Store with neem leaves to protect natural fibers

Q. Can I wear cotton Ajrakh suits in summer?
They’re made for it. Pure cotton Ajrakh is one of the most breathable fabrics. The natural dyes and loose weave keep you cool. Many customers call it their “summer uniform”.

Q. Do you provide stitching for Ajrakh suit sets?
Yes. Add our stitching service at checkout. Share your measurements and preferred style: straight kurta, A-line, Anarkali, or pant set. Standard delivery: 7 working days extra for stitching.

Q. What’s the difference between Ajrakh and Bagh print?
Both are hand block prints, but Ajrakh uses complex geometric patterns with dark indigo/madder bases from Kutch. Bagh print from Madhya Pradesh uses more floral motifs with red/black bases. Ajrakh also involves double-sided printing.

Q. Do you ship Ajrakh suits internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide. Free shipping in India. International shipping calculated at checkout. All suits are packed with care instructions and authenticity certificate.

Q. Can I return or exchange my Ajrakh suit?
Unstitched suits: 7-day return if fabric is uncut.  As each piece is handcrafted, minor variations in print are not considered defects.
