Know your Fabric
At HolyThread, we believe in the freedom to create your dream attire.
That’s why our handcrafted fabrics are curated for unstitched suits and dupattas first. Every meter tells a story of India — woven, printed, and embroidered by artisans, not machines. Here’s how to choose the perfect material for your next outfit:
1. Banarasi Silk Suit Material
Origin: Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh
Feel: Rich unstitched kurta fabrics with intricate gold/silver zari bootis, paired with heavy dupattas.
Best for: Wedding guest looks, festive unstitched suits, mix-and-match trousseau sets.
Stitching Tip: Needs lining due to zari weight. 2.5m kurta + 2.5m bottom + 2.25m dupatta included in our sets.
Care: Dry clean only. The zari stays heirloom-quality for years.
HolyThread Promise: Direct from Varanasi looms. Use for kurta or lehengas — your choice.
2. Chikankari Unstitched Suits
Origin: Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
Feel: Delicate hand embroidery on breathable cotton, georgette, or chanderi and organza suit sets with matching dupattas.
Best for: Summer unstitched suits, office wear, daytime mehendi functions.
Stitching Tip: Light fabrics — add cotton lining for kurta. Chikankari dupattas are sheer and statement-worthy.
Care: Dry clean preferred. If hand washing, no wringing or twisting embroidery.
HolyThread Promise: 32+ traditional stitches. Each suit set takes 15–30 days of handwork.
3. Kota Doria Dress Material
Origin: Kota, Rajasthan
Feel: Light as air. Signature square-check “khat” weave. Unstitched suit sets are cotton-silk blend with breezy dupattas.
Best for: Daily wear unstitched suits, office kurtas, summer suits. Perfect for Bengaluru weather.
Stitching Tip: No lining needed for kurtas. Dupatta is sheer — pair with plain or hakoba bottoms.
Care: Gentle hand wash. Starch lightly for crisp look.
HolyThread Promise: Pure cotton-silk blend. The khat pattern is the real mark of Kota.
4. Ajrakh Dress Material
Origin: Kutch, Gujarat
Feel: Hand block printed unstitched suit sets using natural dyes. Deep indigo, madder red, with geometric motifs.
Best for: Office unstitched suits, festive kurtas, art-lovers. Gets softer with every wash.
Stitching Tip: 2.5m kurta can be made into A-line or straight fit. Dupattas are double-sided print.
Care: First wash separately in salt water. Natural dyes = authentic.
HolyThread Promise: 14-step natural dye process. No two suits are 100% identical.
5. Leheriya Dupattas & Suit Sets
Origin: Rajasthan
Feel: Wave-like tie-dye on lightweight chiffon, georgette, or cotton silk dress material + dupattas.
Best for: Teej, Rakhi suits, monsoon festive looks. Leheriya dupattas instantly elevate plain kurtas.
Stitching Tip: Pair bright leheriya dupatta with solid color unstitched suit material.
Care: Dry clean for silk versions. Cotton can be hand washed.
HolyThread Promise: Hand-rolled leheriya, not screen print. Each wave pattern is unique.
6. Handcrafted Jaipur Zari Work Unstitched Suits
Origin: Jaipur, Rajasthan
Feel: Metallic zari, gota patti, mukaish, and badla work on unstitched organza, silk, and georgette suit sets. Dupattas have heavy borders.
Best for: Wedding guest unstitched suits, sangeet, reception outfits. Adds glamour without heavy lehenga weight.
Stitching Tip: Use 2.5m kurta with heavy neckline. Dupatta is the hero — keep suit simple. Add lining for organza.

HolyThread Promise: Authentic Jaipur karigari. We use tested zari + hand-applied mukaish for durability.
7. Tissue & Organza Suit Material

Feel: Sheer, shimmery unstitched suit sets with zari-woven motifs. Lightweight dupattas with subtle glow.
Best for: Evening party wear suits, modern reception looks, cocktail unstitched sets.

Care: Dry clean only. Hang dupattas to avoid creases.
HolyThread Promise: Pure organza silk, not polyester. Real zari that doesn’t tarnish.
